Triathlete and PT Annabel Kukulski explores what Balance has to offer in a weekend filled with sweaty fun
I have come from Balance Festival feeling, well… balanced. In fact, I’m a little high on the balance scale.
Hosted in an uber cool space in East London – the Truman Brewery – the event delivered a schedule packed with fitness classes from the best in fitness: Barry’s Bootcamp, Xtend Barre, Boom Cycle to name a few. There were panel discussions with inspirational bloggers like Jody Shields talking love and relationships and Laura Thomas on intuitive eating; a live cooking theatre; healthy food stands with lots of sample to try, clothes, DJ’s. There was so much to see and do.
I entered the Urban Tri, which was the big pull for me. It was a 30-minute HIIT class followed by 6km run and then a 20-minute yoga class – and I absolutely loved it. The HIIT class was lead by the Boom Cycle team and was tonnes of fun. We then got to go outside for a 6km run from Stratford Queens Olympic to Truman Brewery through the canals, parks and graffiti’ streets of East London. The run was open to all abilities with more festival-vibes rather than race-vibes. The yoga session at the end was the perfect way to finish, letting participants really stretch out after the HIIT class and the run.
