What are the benefits of exercising and how does it help our body and everyday life?

By Pennie

Did you know that participating in sports keeps your mind sharp and boosts your self-esteem? However, the advantages of sports extend far beyond the enjoyment you get from watching them on television.

Sport keeps us healthy and immersing ourselves in a game that provides a strong combination of physical and mental health advantages. Football, for example, can help us not only reduce our risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 50% but also improve our mental health. Adults who frequently engage in sports and exercise have a 34% decreased risk of death than those who do not.

Let’s Explore the Benefits of Exercising

Strong and Healthy Heart – Your heart is a muscle that requires regular exercise to be fit and healthy. A healthy heart can efficiently pump blood throughout your body. When your heart is regularly pushed with exercise, it will increase its performance. Stronger hearts can help the body’s overall health. Bulk powders Whey Isolate 90 + protein coffee

By Pennie

The chocolate cookies Pure Whey Isolate 90 from Bulk Powders tastes amazing. Genuinely amazing. By far the best tasting protein shake we’ve ever tried.

A 30g serving provides 115 calories, 26.12g protein, 1.2g carbs and 0.67g fat. The high protein content to low carb and fat profiles makes this ideal for anyone wanting lean muscle growth. And to get 26g of protein out of a 30g serving is pretty good.

A 2.5kg pouch will cost you £41.99, which also makes it one of the cheapest on the market.

Other flavours include vanilla, banana, chocolate, chocolate orange, chocolate peanut, peaches and cream, strawberry, toffee popcorn and unflavoured.

It’s suitable for vegetarians, gluten free, halal and kosher.

Bulk Powders recommend taking this protein before breakfast or after a workout, where the brand suggests you can double the serving size, if it’s been an intense one. [Read more…] about Bulk powders Whey Isolate 90 + protein coffee

Eat the Rainbow: Eating colourful fruit and veg can keep You Fit and Healthy

By Pennie

Eating your greens is super important; but don’t forget about your reds, yellows, oranges, blues and purples, too. The colour of our food can be an indicator of its nutritional value.

Often the colour pigments within fruit and veg are like protective little warriors which help lower our risk of disease. (The colours in the pick ’n’ mix from the sweet shop is not the same thing!)

The colourful phytochemicals within fruit and vegetables act as antioxidants, which clear out potentially harmful molecules (called free radicals) before they get a chance to damage our cells.

These little colourful warriors protect us from a number of health problems, such as heart disease, cancer, cataracts and even premature ageing.

Different colours have different properties, which is why when you’re picking your daily dose of fruit and veg you should select from each of the colour groupings: red, orange/yellow, green and purple/blue.

The added bonus of this is that mealtimes will include a variety of flavours and textures, making eating even more enjoyable. [Read more…] about Eat the Rainbow: Eating colourful fruit and veg can keep You Fit and Healthy

What’s the best exercise to Burn Fat?

By Pennie

The secret to fat loss is simpler than you think.

The single question I get asked the most is a variation of this one. People want the quickest solution to fat loss. They want to know how to lose the belly or the love handles; how to drop 10kg for summer. People very rarely want to know the real answer, though. The amount of consultations I’ve had with people convinced that 1,200 calorie-a-day diets and hitting the treadmill seven days a week will give them that fitness-model look is unreal.

“It worked last time,” they tell me. “I lost 10kg before,” they say. And over and over I explain that it didn’t really work last time if you put it all back on six months later. They tell me about the butter they’ve been putting in their coffee and the clingfilm they’ve got wrapped around their waist; about the fancy gadget they got to zap the fat away and how they haven’t eaten carbs in since 1999.

Everyone wants to know the BEST exercise to burn fat. Is it the treadmill or crunches? Everyone does a lot of crunches. Crunches for days. Crunching away the belly that never budges.

The thing is, the answer you’re looking for isn’t as complicated as you might think. Firstly, you don’t need to go on a crazy diet. In fact, crazy generally means temporary and will never give you lasting results. And secondly, nobody gets that ‘toned’ look you’re talking about without picking up a few weights – unless you’ve been genetically gifted by the gods. And thirdly, there’s more to abs than sit ups (see this FREE abs workout).

The main thing to remember is to get your diet in check. [Read more…] about What’s the best exercise to Burn Fat?

8 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PARKOUR

By Pennie

I’m normally more of a racer, so when OMQ sent me down to the Chainstore Gym, right by the Thames in East London, for a parkour lesson, I wasn’t really sure what to expect.

This was no ordinary parkour lesson, either. Held by Parkour Generations, this was the first day of their Rendezvous weekend. And this first day was very exclusive – I was one of just 30 people invited to take park.

The weekend involved various training sessions held by the top parkour coaches from across Europe and America. It was hardcore stuff, and I was a complete novice. I’d never even considered parkour before, so I was relieved that we were split into three groups based on experience. But even among the beginners, I was the only person with zero parkour experience.

We had three different sessions during day one of the Rendezvous weekend. Here’s what I learnt. [Read more…] about 8 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PARKOUR
